With the encouragement of their daughter, Pam and Jeff Anderson decided to renew their focus on growing their Melaleuca organization. Two years later, the Andersons are advancing their business and helping dozens of others achieve greater freedom.
Goals and Expectations
Two years ago, Jeff and Pam Anderson made a commitment to accelerate the pace of their business-building activities and the pace of their organizational growth.
“For the first few months, we kept talking about our goals, but we weren’t doing anything to reach them,” Jeff says. “We finally realized what we were doing, so we wrote down our goals and what we needed to do to accomplish them.”
With their goals in front of them, the Andersons came up with a plan to finish at least one step every month. Having a clear picture of what they needed to do and the motivation to reach their goals, Jeff and Pam quickly saw the results of their decision.
“We worked on building stronger relationships with our business builders and improving communication within our team,” Pam says. “We’ve tried to lead by example. Once our team saw us moving forward, they started to advance their Melaleuca businesses also. We encourage our team to have clear, well-defined goals, then act on them, just like we did.”
Helping Others Achieve Their Goals
One of the business builders in Jeff and Pam’s team is their daughter, Theresa Buckley, and her husband, James. Theresa and her sister Janell both grew up using Melaleuca products and enjoyed the flexibility Pam and Jeff had throughout their childhood.
“They loved that we could be at all their school and sporting events,” Pam says. “Our girls grew up seeing a completely different life than all of their friends and their friends’ parents. They may not have understood all the details about Melaleuca, but they always knew there was something special about it.”
Jeff and Pam enjoy building their Melaleuca business with Theresa and James, and they look forward to working with Janell when she starts her own business after she turns 18 in July.
In March alone, several of Jeff and Pam’s leaders advanced. Theresa and James advanced to Executive Director, three of the Andersons’ personal enrollees reached Senior Directors, and there were six more advancements from the Director to Senior Director ranks.
“We don’t advance without others in our organization advancing, and that’s one of my favorite things about Melaleuca,” Pam says. “It’s great to know we help others succeed and give them more time with their family and financial security.”
Jeff agrees, and said that it is great when you become less encumbered in your own situation and more concerned about helping others.
(From Leadership In Action magazine, May 2012)“We obviously have our own goals, but the neat part about this business has been when you are no longer worried about covering your own bills and can invest your energy, time and thoughts into helping others care for their needs,” Jeff says. “How gratifying and fun it is to be involved with that process.”
